>What is CILAB?

A collaborative space to co-design innovative solutions to problems with citizen talent.

The Alicante citizen laboratory has been designed as a collaborative participatory strategy to solve the SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL problems of the city of Alicante with criteria of co-creation, innovation and sustainability.

CILAB ALICANTE is a joint initiative of the ALICANTE LOCAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY and the CONSELLERIA DE INNOVACIÓN, UNIVERSIDADES, CIENCIA Y SOCIEDAD DIGITAL, an experimental and participatory methodology that aligns with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and our Alicante Urban Agenda.

We are all called to participate in proposing never-before-tested solutions to never-before-defined problems using collective intelligence.

Origin

>Who makes it up?

Citizens and social entities, academia and scientists, the business world and public administrations.

Various strategies and dynamics have been put in place to solicit participation in the definition of a social and an environmental challenge for Alicante based on the problems identified as relevant to the city in these areas.

To realise this definition, the problem and the challenge must:

  • Can be summarised in one sentence.
  • Affect the widest possible range of citizens.

Citizens are participating in person through interviews and participatory debate workshops, and online through video conferences (streaming), digital forms and the Web (www.cilabalicante.com).

In face-to-face sessions, we will define 2 challenges based on those proposed by the population using the form on this page.

>What are we doing?

To jointly define two challenges, one social and the other environmental, for the city of Alicante.

We are all called upon to collaborate in order to exercise our rights and take on commitments and responsibilities in this experimental creation. More than 100 people have already been counted, belonging to the four helixes in the first phase of diagnosis and information, and more and more are joining every day!

They are citizens and social entities, academic and scientific knowledge centres, the business world and public administrations. A challenge that will serve as a prototype for other cities and socio-environmental laboratories.

CILAB ALICANTE is working with other national laboratories such as MEDIALAB GRANADA, LAS NAVES in VALENCIA, LABORATORIO DE VITORIA GASTEIZ, MEDIALAB PRADO in MADRID, CITILAB DE CORNELLÁ in BARCELONA, IMPULSA ZARAGOZA or COBOILAB SANT BOI DE LLOBREGAT.

The same applies to others in the European Network of Citizen Labs.
