The Alicante Citizen Laboratory, CILAB, returns to its activity in 2023, continuing with the work already carried out last year in the search for ideas to solve the challenges defined by citizens and expert groups, in the social and environmental field.

Of the challenges identified in the Social field, in 2022, it was decided to focus efforts on the introduction of complementary inclusive education that generates employment.

Consequently, the following have been defined as strategic lines to propose solutions:

• Develop actions aimed at integrating Soft Skills into the educational curriculum and local training programs.
• Establish, design or promote programs and specific support so that people in vulnerable situations can access training and professional development opportunities.
• Collaborate with educational institutions and local companies to offer specific training in the skills and competencies demanded by the current labor market.

For the part corresponding to the Environmental challenge: Promote the Circular Economy in Alicante. For this, strategic lines have been defined to propose solutions:

• Actions focused on reducing single-use plastic products.
• Reduction of waste in natural environments (beach and mountains) Actions to reduce, reuse and/or recycle industrial waste.

Therefore, citizens, associations, companies, entities, etc. are invited to participate by proposing solutions through the different forms available on our website. All ideas to solve these challenges must be innovative, sustainable over time, easy to implement or accessible, and be able to be replicated in similar environments.
